If the comics strip is your favourite part, you may be interested in this post. The newspaper comic strip is a sequence of drawings with captions or dialogues printed in balloons. It is often printed as a horizontal strip in the daily newspapers. The Nelson Daily News, as a local daily newspaper established in 1902, published a few comic strips on a recurring basis, even on holidays. In this post, we compile one of the popular comic strips published in The Nelson Daily News on Christmas Eve – The Gumps.
The Gumps, a comic strip about a family living in San Francisco, was published in newspapers from 1917 to 1959. Here are six comic stories of what happened to the Gumps, including the main character Andy Gump, his wife Min Gump, their sons Chester Gump and Goliath Gump, and uncle Bim Gump, on the holiday.
The Gumps
You are about to find out who slipped on an icy sidewalk and what Christmas gifts Andy bought for Chester, in the story of “The Fall Guy”
Let’s find out how big-hearted and generous Bim was, in the story of “Pawns of Fate”
The war was over but let’s see why Andy was drafted again, in the story of “Back at the Front”
Andy put on the Santa Claus outfit and gave away a quarter of a billion, in the story of “A Merry Christmas to All”
Andy and Min were excited when they received the Christmas gift from Bim, in the story of “All around the Mulberry Bush”
Andy, Min, and Bim realized the real pleasure of living, in the story of “‘’Twas the Night before Christmas”
May your holidays be full of warmth and cheer. We hope you enjoy the newspaper comic strips. Apart from the Gumps, The Nelson Daily News also published comic strips such as Tillie the Toiler and Bringing Up Father.
